Join us and Leg It for Liver Health

Your hard-working liver does hundreds of essential jobs, so it’s important to look after it.

Poor diet and a lack of exercise can cause liver damage. If left untreated, this can lead to serious complications for the liver.

For many of us, maintaining a healthy diet and keeping up an exercise routine during lockdown hasn’t been easy. But it’s vital to keep moving, so we are encouraging you to Leg it for Liver Health this May with your own virtual challenge.

If you’ve got a static bike or treadmill, you can clock up the miles indoors, or you can exercise (safely) in the park or your local area. Take part alone or with family and friends, and complete your chosen distance in one session or over the month.

So, leg it your way - run, walk or cycle your way through May, by choosing your distance, location and pace. You could:

  • Run a marathon in a month
  • Walk 10k a day for 31 days
  • Cycle 100km a week

Or if you’re feeling really brave, set goals to run, walk and cycle over the course of May

Whatever your goal, take part in Leg it for Liver and you’ll not only improve your health and wellbeing, but also raise funds for better liver health at the same time – what could be more rewarding than that?

We’re here to support you all the way with top training and nutrition tips in your ‘Leg it for Liver’ pack; and you’ll receive a free medal on completion of your challenge!

In your pack you’ll also find a record card to note your sessions across the month and don’t forget to share your progress on social media and tag us – #livertrust and #legitforliver.

Setting a fundraising target

You can set your own fundraising goal, but here are some suggestions…

  • Raise £500 to fund one day of our patient and family helpline
  • Raise £262 - £10 for every mile or tenth of a kilometre or mile that you do to make up your marathon, 2.6km or 2.6 mile distance target
  • Raise £333 – An estimated 1 in 3 people have early-stage non-alcohol related fatty liver disease (NAFLD), 33%. Could you raise £333 to help us lessen these numbers?
