My Story

Did you know that your liver is the largest internal organ and does hundreds of essential jobs?

You only have one liver, so it's important to know how to look after it. We all know that alcohol is one major preventable cause of liver disease, but it's less commonly known that poor diet and a lack of exercise can also cause liver damage. If left untreated, this can lead to serious complications for the liver.

Experts predict that over the next decade, non-alcohol related fatty liver disease will become the leading cause of end-stage liver disease and liver transplantation, overtaking alcohol-related liver disease.

That's why we're taking on the British Liver Trust's Leg it for Liver challenge. We will be sharing a marathon, during October, from the comfort of our conservatory, on our cross trainer!

The British Liver Trust supports liver patients and their families through their nurse-led Helpline, support groups, publications and online community forum. They raise awareness of the preventable causes of liver disease, providing free liver scans on their Love Your Liver roadshow and they also campaign for early detection and improved care.

Please help us to support the charity's work with a donation using the 'Donate' button on the right hand side. The more people that know about the British Liver Trust, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing this page with friends and family and your wider networks.

Thank you in advance for your support, it really does mean a lot.
