About us

The British Liver Trust is the top UK liver health charity leading the fight against all types of liver condition and liver cancer for adults.

Our mission is to transform liver health through increased awareness, prevention, improved care and support. Liver disease is the third leading cause of premature death in the UK, yet 90% of liver disease is preventable. Three quarters of people with a liver condition are currently diagnosed at a late stage when it is too late for lifestyle changes or intervention.

We reach over a million people each year through our campaigns and services; raising awareness of the risk factors of liver disease and providing vital advice to help people improve their liver health. We provide patients with up to date information and support including a free nurse-led helpline, online community, support groups and publications. We campaign for better treatment and care, working together with other health organisations.
